According to Lena Dunham, imitation isn’t always the sincerest form of flattery. After the 27-year-old learned that her HBO hit Girls had been parodied in a porn titled This Ain’t Girls XXX, the Golden Globe winner expressed her disdain via a series of Twitter posts.
“I wish I had a better attitude about the Girls porn parody,” she tweeted May 23. “I really can never predict what will trouble me and it’s simply exhausting.”

Hours later, Dunham said she “wracked my brain to articulate why I can’t just laugh off a porn parody of Girls. Here are three reasons: 1. Because Girls is, at its core, a feminist action while Hustler is a company that markets and monetizes a male’s idea of female sexuality. 2. Because a big reason I engage in (simulated) onscreen sex is to counteract a skewed idea of that act created by the proliferation of porn 3. Because it grosses me out.”

Adult film star Richie Calhoun, who plays the role of Adam Sackler in This Ain’t Girls XXX, tells XBiz the porn parody captures “the voice and tone” of the original show. Because Girls features plenty of nudity and adult themes, Calhoun says “they didn’t have to do much” more than extend the sex scenes and make them more provocative.

“It will be interesting to see what people will say about it, because with something like that, people would expect a really bold or nuanced statement,” Calhoun says. “Maybe it will be like that or maybe people will say, ‘This is an outrage. This is terrible!’ I’m not really sure.”
